At the Cable Bay winery on Waiheke Island we have an Artspace within the main building and an outdoor space for large sculpture works.

Currently on exhibition outside we have a range of works from artists including Phil Price, Kon Dimopoulos, Gregor Kregar and many others.

In the Artspace we have worked with John Leech Gallery (www.johnleechgallery.co.nz) on an exhibition of Michael Hight works (Parihaka Road, 2009 featured above).  Hight is a self taught artist whose preferred medium is oil on canvas.  Set with an archetypal New Zealand rural landscape, stacks of hives become the main protagonist within each scene.  Seasonal, geographical and compositional variations are explored which allow the artist to negotiate subtle nuances in light, tone, composition and intensity of hue.  Hight's paintings are technically sophisticated and meticulous in their attention to detail.

The Cable Bay Artspace and general grounds are open for casual visitors from 12noon until 5pm everyday.

A few of the pieces which currently make up the Cable Bay landscape:

 “Immersive Echo”
by
Gregor Kregar

Exhibited in association with Gow Langsford Gallery, Auckland

"Piupiu"
by
Konstantin Dimopoulos

Artist’s statement :
Shapes and colours have their own emotional force.
Piupiu is a wind-driven kinetic sculpture that uses line and colour on a three-dimensional rod surface to express a simple beauty of pattern; and the chromatic tension, harmony and rhythm in the form.
